Bringing Change Makers Together

Dr. Sarah Gower, Aboyne Rural Hospice, Board Chair presented at the Centre Wellington Community Foundation (CWFC) Annual Public Meeting at the Grandway Event Centre in Elora. The Community Foundation’s theme was ‘Bringing change makers together’ and invited the hospice to speak on the future of palliative care in the county and how the Aboyne Rural Hospice will fill an urgent need to provide beds and compassionate care close to home.

The Centre Wellington Community Foundation (CWCF) welcomed approximately 70 community members to its annual public meeting for an evening celebrating local philanthropy, community leadership and the collective impact of giving in Centre Wellington. The event showcased three significant community-building initiatives that officials say are currently shaping the future of the community: the Elora Centre for the Arts, Habitat for Humanity Guelph Wellington’s Fergus building project and the Aboyne Rural Hospice.

Dr. Gower, co-chair of the Board of Directors of the Aboyne Rural Hospice, highlighted there is a need for at least 9 more palliative care beds in the county and how community support can help turn ambitious visions into reality.
